The Numbers Behind The Biggest Hotel Casinos In Vegas

In 2013, the US gaming market revenue was around $65,497,000,000. Sixty-five and a half billion dollars, nearly ten bucks for every single person on the planet. Of that 65.5 billion, the Las Vegas Strip was responsible for about $6.2 billion.

Just to be clear, that’s not the state of Nevada. That’s not even all of Las Vegas. That’s just the single street, the one with all the famous casinos you see in the movies. 10 per cent of the revenue accumulated from gambling in the entire United States came out of one street in the middle of the desert last year.

To put it another way, there are 1511 casinos in the United States. The next highest is France with 189, and the list goes down from there. There are 76 casinos in Las Vegas alone, and the number of casino employees in Nevada is almost as much as the entire population of Samoa (175,000).

Gambling revenue across several cities in Nevada is actually down from last year, but the Las Vegas Strip has seen a $25 million increase, and experts are chalking it up to a game called Baccarat.

Baccarat is a card game where players hold either two- or three-card hands, and the winning hand is whichever has the highest remainder when its face value is divided by ten. I know, I don’t really get it either but apparently it’s sucking people in because Baccarat was responsible for a quarter of the Strip’s total revenue last month, according to Praveen Choudhary, Hong Kong-based gaming analyst.

Anyway, the point is that with the Las Vegas Strip boasting 28% of the $171,040,000,000 in global casino gambling revenue, we thought we’d check out some of the hotel casinos that accommodate these people with such big pockets.
